Defects in manual paint mixing
The characteristic parameters of coatings diluted by mixing mainly depend on the type and amount of diluent solvent used. There are several main reasons why the coating characteristic parameters cannot be adjusted to be consistent.
1. There is uncertainty in solvent volatility. The volatility of solvents is not constant, it is not only affected by its own saturation vapor pressure, but also changes with temperature. Temperature can change the saturation vapor pressure of organic solvents. Usually, as the temperature rises, the saturation vapor pressure increases, and the evaporation rate of solvents increases significantly. Currently, ordinary production lines cannot achieve constant temperature and humidity, and fluctuations in operating environment conditions affect the characteristic parameters of coatings.
2. The diversification of solvents and human factors bring many uncertainties. Production lines often provide several organic solvents for mixing and using different solvents, which have different dilution abilities and volatilization rates. It is difficult to query and understand the volatile characteristics of each organic solvent, and operators find it difficult to accurately grasp the volatile value of the solvent, resulting in inaccurate solvent mixing ratios. There are also human errors in different operators and batches of operations.
3. Inconsistency between paint mixing and spraying environment. Most paint mixing processes require diluting and adjusting the paint to be sprayed with solvents before sending it to various spray rooms for use. If temperature and humidity changes are encountered during the spraying process, mixing and diluting the paint will be detrimental to the spraying operation, affecting product quality, requiring re mixing, resulting in low operating efficiency, cumbersome operation, and even waste of paint.
In the surface treatment of fluorocarbon spraying, the adjustment process, also known as the mixing process, is required before the use of fluorocarbon coating. It involves adding appropriate organic solvents to the coating to dilute it, and ensuring that the viscosity, volatility of the solvent, and solid content of the diluted coating meet the requirements of the industrial environment. And these characteristic values will play a crucial role in the subsequent spraying quality, such as: viscosity is related to the flow, transportation, and atomization effect of the coating, and the evaporation rate of the solvent affects the leveling effect of the coating after spraying. If the evaporation rate is too fast, the leveling effect of the coating is not good, and it is easy to produce orange peel, pitting, and even pinholes, whitening, and other coatings; Membrane defects; The evaporation rate is too slow, and the coating is prone to defects such as sagging and lip edges. Therefore, in order to ensure the consistency of the subsequent spraying quality of the coating, the characteristic parameters of the coating after mixing should be consistent in different working environments or time periods. However, the manual mixing method commonly used in the industry is difficult to meet this requirement. This article designs a new automatic paint mixing process system technology through a series of research, process design, and related experimental research, replacing the original manual paint mixing method.
